The Ghana Institute of Management (GIM) is the oldest Professional/Management Institute in the country. It is also a founding member of the Association of Management Organisations in Africa. In July 1961 the Ghana Association for the Advancement of Management (GAAM) was established as a non-profit and non-political Association embracing all categories of Managers interested in advancing efficient management practice in Ghana.
In 1962, the Association had established chapters in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi with a combined membership of over 300 Managers in all sectors of the economy.
The name of the Association was changed to Ghana Institute of Management on July 1973 and on March 1976 under the recommendations of International Labour Organisation (ILO), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the British Institute of Management (BIM), the Association was transformed and developed into a Professional Body and subsequently incorporated as a Company limited by guarantee under the Company’s code of Ghana.
